Since greenhouse horticulture companies have a large annual need for irrigation water, they have to look at other options besides rainwater and groundwater to meet this need. There are various types of alternative water types from within or outside the greenhouse company that can contribute to this annual need.
This is why Roam Technology is involved in the Belgian OptiWAIE project. The project is a Dutch acronym for “Optimisation of water use in greenhouse horticulture using alternative internal and external water sources“. This project focuses on the following crops: cucumber, lettuce and tomato. It’s an initiative by Inagro, a Belgian research & consultancy company in agriculture and horticulture, together with Proefcentrum Hoogstraten and PSKW, two practice-oriented research centres in horticulture. Together with their project partners, they guide growers in choosing the right alternative water source.
