In determining the winners, a few other parameters were taken into account as well, like percentage of crop loss, cultivation results and general quality of the end products. In previous years, the winners were chosen in the Netherlands, but this year for the first time, customers from all over Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg were eligible. This year, two prizes were awarded: one for best water quality in vegetable cultivation and one for best water quality in floriculture.
In the vegetable cultivation category, the prize went to pepper and eggplant nursery Stannuco, located in Wommelgem (Belgium). Business managers Steven Van Nuffelen and Kristof Schuddinck have 4 greenhouses that form an area of 13 ha together.
